The Autumn meeting of the Parish Grasslands Project in Brockweir is all about wood, and how to make the most effective use of trees on your land.

The agenda includes:

The trees. Introduction to meeting and the trees of the parishes. The main trees in the parishes; their ages and the history of the woods and field boundaries.

Forestry background. Hedges and woods as sources of fuel wood; planting short-rotation coppice trees in and around fields; coppicing in the presence of deer.

Building in wood. Construction timber from trees on our land

Tools of the trade. Acquiring the best tools for working with trees

Heating. Wood to warm – wood for heating. Amounts, storing and other practicalities.

Demonstrations: Green woodworking; Wood for turning, ornament, etc; Rocking horses!; Wood splitting (photos only!); Caring for chain saws, etc; Coppice craft products
