Thursday 27th October, Llandogo Village Hall: Doors open 7pm

Join us for our Autumn Social in the Wye side village of Llandogo. Our speakers will give short, illustrated talks about their meadows followed by a buffet supper and plenty of time to chat to other enthusiasts and share experiences.
Pip Morrison owns the meadows in Crosshands where we held our Open Meadows in June. Pip is a Landscape Architect, now living in Hampshire but brought up in Llansoy. He inherited the 10 acre field and small wood, which has been in the family since 1900. It is managed as a traditional hay meadow and is now one of the best species-rich meadows in Monmouthshire, with at least 41 indicators of unimproved neutral, dry or calcareous grassland in the meadow and a further thirteen indicators of marshy grassland.
Wendy Tyler-Batt is an experienced botanist and moth enthusiast who many of you remember from our open days where she led some of the walks. Wendy and her husband Trevor manage a smaller meadow, around 1 acre, near The Hendre where they have had to tackle many familiar problems, such as encroaching Bracken and Brambles. Their management regime has resulted in a lovely wildflower haven, with some impressive moth species, and we shall be seeing some of these in her illustrated talk.
The buffet is £15 for members, £18 for non-members. To attend just for the talks, there is no charge for MMG members, non-members £3.
