Directions to Ox Pool House

 

 

The driving directions take you to the parking area at Earlswood Village Hall at ///halt.budgeted.should.  The address is Earlswood, Chepstow NP16 6AW.

 

There are further walking directions to get to the house and meadow.  The entrance to the meadow is at ///ounce.walled.saints 

 

If you have mobility issues please contact the organisers so we can arrange transport, but note that the ground is not easily accessible by wheelchair.

 

From the south or from Chepstow the easiest route is through Shirenewton. 

  • From the centre of Shirenewton, by the Tredegar Arms, take the Earlswood Road, signed to Earlswood and Usk.
  • After 1.1 miles (1.8 km) take the left fork signed to Earlswood and West End.
  • Earlswood Village Hall (which is called Earlswood & Newchurch West Memorial Hall on the building) is 0.6 mile (just under 1 km) along this road, on the left.  

    There is a large parking area in front of the hall.

 

From the north via the A449, or from Usk

  • At the Usk junction on the A499, or coming from Usk on the A472, take the B4235, signed towards Chepstow/Gwernesney/Llandenny.
  • Go past the Usk Showground, follow the B4235 Chepstow Road through Llangwm and on until you reach the crossroads at Gaerllwyd.  
  • At the crossroads, turn right, signed to Shirenewton and Earlswood.  Note, immediately after you have turned there is another right turn signed just to Earlswood but do not take this one. Carry straight on towards Shirenewton. 
  • After 0.8 mile (1.3 km) turn right onto a single track road (there is a sign indicating a turn but no words so keep an eye out for this).
  • After 0.2 mile (⅓ km) turn left at the T junction. Follow this road, keeping to the left where it forks.
  • Earlswood Village Hall (which is called Earlswood & Newchurch West Memorial Hall on the building) is 0.4 mile (⅔ km) along this road, on the right.  

    There is a large parking area in front of the hall.

 

Walking from the Village Hall to Ox Pool House

It is about ½ mile (800 m) from the car park to the meadow entrance.  From the hall, turn right, go past the old school then take the right turn down the hill. 

(There is a public footpath from this road but we are told it is usually blocked.)

At the crossroads, turn left (to cut off the corner) then keep to the left, following the road round to the left, past Red Oaks, and you will reach Ox Pool House. Keep walking past the house to get to the meadow entrance on the left.
