Be sociable, have fun and do something useful! All volunteers are welcome to help at these morning work events, and we are very grateful for all hands. It’s helpful if you bring some of your own tools.

Sunday 16th March
Bracken and bramble clearing from the churchyard at St Mary’s Church, Tintern. Start at 10 am, and finish around lunch time.
The beautiful churchyard around St Mary’s Church in Tintern is managed by volunteers as a meadow. It’s in a beautiful position, overlooking the Wye. The main body of the churchyard is densely packed with tombs. Last year paths were cut through this area to allow some access. This year the aim is to mow carefully around the headstones to make them more visible. Beyond this there are fewer headstones, and this area was cut in September. The plan is to cut it back again then leave the meadow to grow until late summer. It’s a labour intensive task and the small group would appreciate help.
There is free parking in Tintern village if you turn off the A466 at The Royal George Hotel and drive a few hundred yards to the lower wire works car park which is on the right. There is also parking at the Abbey but this is metered. Volunteers arriving at 10am will be met on Chapel Lane at the bottom of the cobbled path.
